Argentina is the major site for dinosaur fossil finds in South America. Among the major Argentinian fossil finds are the remains of the Herrerasaurus, the Saltasaurus, and the Pisanosaurus, the only bird-hipped dinosaur to be found dating back to the Triassic period.
South American dinosaur fossils have also been found in Bolivia, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay.
